WELCOME TO SMOKY HILL EDUCATION EVENT INFORMATION
What’s in a word? Turns out—a great deal. Participants in this all-day presentation will review how best to deal with one of the most powerful strands of Scarborough’s Rope: Vocabulary. This includes morphology, which helps students break down words into meaningful parts. Vocabulary is critically important to reading comprehension. It also helps with precision in written expression. When students understand the morphological breakdown of the words they encounter, they are better able to determine meaning. Come join us as we play with words and their meanings and discuss better ways to help students learn and retain vocabulary words so they become better readers.
Audience: ELA Teachers grade 3-12
Please join our presenters Robin Anderson, Smoky Hill Consultant, Mary Lonker, KSDE for engaging and informative day of professional development!
