Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been in the news lately, with people wondering if we should be excited, concerned, or both. According to a recent survey of K-12, one-quarter of teachers surveyed felt that AI caused more harm to students than benefit (Pew Research Center, 2024).  However, most respondents were unsure of the value of AI in the classroom. While there are some challenges that educators must consider, such as ethical use and security, there are also endless opportunities that might have the potential to create personalized instruction and potentially reduce teacher paperwork.  This workshop aims to discuss and evaluate the use of AI in the K-12 classroom.  This workshop is offered in both in-person and hybrid formats!

Participants in this workshop will:

  • Engage in discourse regarding the implications of AI in the K-12 classroom
  • Explore the role that AI can play in classroom assessment practices
  • Identify AI tools that can save time and improve instruction
  • Evaluate AI tools that could provide opportunities for students
