Studies indicate that if students are not engaged in thinking within the first 3-5 minutes of class, they are unlikely to do so for the remainder of the period (Liljedahl, 2017). Therefore, students need to begin thinking actively and continue throughout the class. In this workshop, participants will explore instructional routines that foster thinking and promote discourse. This approach aligns with key elements of KESA 2.0, such as quality instruction and balanced assessment, and also supports standards and literacy in the math classroom.

Participants can earn 0.5 graduate-level credit by attending this workshop and completing a brief reflection. Additionally, attendees may receive up to three graduate credit hours for attending and applying the workshop's content to their classroom or school setting.

Lunch is on your own.
