One can do a simple job search for Microsoft Office skills on Indeed, Monster, ZipRecruiter, and SimplyHired for just the state of Kansas and you’ll find a vast number of open positions that list having Microsoft Office skills as a qualification. Compare that to a search on the same sites for Google Suite skills listed as a qualification and the number is drastically lower. Ask any Fortune 1000 company what software they use for documents and spreadsheets and they will tell you they use Microsoft Office.

It only makes logical sense that our students need skills and knowledge in areas that their future employers feel are important enough to list as a qualification for employment. This is a compelling reason to provide learning opportunities in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and more. And if we really want to give students the leg up to being successful in their job searches, why not provide them with an opportunity to become a Microsoft Office Specialist in one or more of these software solutions?

This workshop will cover the importance of guiding students through a MOS certification program, present ideas on best practices to cover material, and expose educators to available resources to teach the material and test students. Participants will also receive a free semester to try out TestOut.
