KSDE Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Reintegration, and Postvention Toolkit Training

Smoky Hill Education Service Center and KSDE are collaborating to provide a detailed, guided exploration through the revised KSDE Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Reintegration, and Postvention Toolkit. Trainers will assist Kansas schools in best practices for a mental health crisis, students re-entering after an intake, and preparation for a student/staff death. Updates include information regarding guidance on HB 2567 and other Kansas legislation such as The Jason Flatt Act, Mandatory Reporting, and Anti-Bullying.

PARTICIPANTS WILL:

• access the toolkit and review in detail each of the four sections: 1) prevention, 2) intervention, 3) reintegration, 4) postvention
• discuss implementation of each section with their School Mental Health Team members
• provide a working document rough draft to present to their district for approval.

This session is appropriate for K-12 school mental health team members including school mental health (counselors, social workers, psychologists), administrators, superintendents, SROs, school nurses, and other designated members of your school mental health team . It's recommended that participating districts/buildings bring part or all of their School Mental Health Team to this training. 

At a minimum, please bring a school counselor and an administrator.
